Bill Kaulitz, leader of the group Tokio Hotel, has granted an exclusive interview with the German magazine Bild, which explains in detail the serious accident he suffered while on his way to Berlin to attend the Awards MTV Europe Music Awards.
The singer explained that "generally" is a "very careful driver, which never had an accident and never drive" too fast ". This time not so lucky and Bill explains how, on his way to the awards ceremony, a truck invaded his unmarked lane.
In their attempt to avoid the crash, Bill hit the brakes, losing control of the car, which skidded on the road and crashed into the side of the highway guardrail.
"In a moment you think only of how to save your life. If another car had driven the thing might have ended differently," said the German.
It was the same Bill who went out on his own foot from the car and called police to tell what happened. "I was hysterical and in shock. The police tried to reassure me by phone," pleads.
"I think every day in the accident. I think we still need a time to get used to the idea. I would not live there. I have never been so close to death. It's a miracle that he was still alive. It's times like this when you realize what really matters and learn to appreciate your life again, "he adds.
Despite their shock and possible consequences, the leader of Tokio Hotel performed the next day at the show of the MTV Europe Music Awards, although both his twin brother Tom and his manager David Jost tried to dissuade him from the idea.
Fortunately, the accident did not cause physical damage to Bill Kaulitz, but the material losses were 80,000 euros. The car has been declared a total loss.
